Whether you have been to physical therapy before, or are completely new to the process, starting a rehabilitation program can be overwhelming. At BreakThrough we understand that recovery is complicated, so we ensure that there is a team member specifically trained to guide you through every step. Our friendly and highly organized business managers and front desk associates will help you navigate appointment scheduling, insurance concerns, and answer any logistical questions you may have. Our physical therapists (PT, DPT) have a doctorate level education and are primarily responsible for your treatment and plan of care. During your first visit, the physical therapist will ask questions, take measurements, and discuss your priorities and goals for therapy. For all of your follow-up visits, you will be treated by a physical therapist (PT, DPT) or a physical therapist assistant (PTA) who will guide you through exercises and interventions designed specifically to address your goals and guide you towards a pain-free life!
Meet the Staff
Dr. Pfruender is the Clinic Manager at the Winston-Salem location.
Cheryl Pfruender is a native of Kannapolis, NC. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, before earning her Manual Therapy Certificate in from St. Augustine University in Florida.
In 2013, Cheryl became Board Certified in Orthopaedics and is also a certified ASTYM and Dry Needling provider. Cheryl specializes in the treatment of neck and low back injuries, as well as running injuries.
As an avid runner, Cheryl trains for distances up to the marathon level. She also enjoys recreational biking and is a huge dog lover, caring for 3 of her own. Her favorite TV shows are The Voice and Grey’s Anatomy. Thank goodness for the invention of the DVR, as this allows her to catch all those re-runs she misses during the day while at work!
Jitka received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. After that she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Jitka later went on to attend Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia where she completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Since physical therapy school, Jitka has had interest in women’s health, treating issues such as pelvic floor dysfunctions and postpartum conditions. She also enjoys manual therapy and treating chronic pain.
In her free time, Jitka likes to garden, travel with her husband and sons, hike with their dog, swim, and spend time with friends and family. She also enjoys reading and jewelry-making.
Sean Bouthilette earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Methodist University. Prior to that, Sean obtained his Exercise Science/Sports Medicine from Campbellsville University.
Sean is most interested in treating sports injuries but enjoys treating all musculoskeletal injuries. He has enjoyed working with the spine with the use of manual treatment with joint mobilization. He also has soft spot for treating shoulder injuries, after having multiple shoulder surgeries himself, being a pitcher in college.
In his free time, Sean enjoys baseball, hiking, and spending time with his family. He is also a huge Boston sports fan.
