Meet the Staff
Lucas is the Clinic Manager at the Cameron location.
Lucas was born and raised in Brazil and moved to the United States in 2005. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and completed residency training in both Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy at the Catholic University in Campinas, Brazil. Before moving to the states, Lucas gained extensive experience while working with patients of all ages with orthopaedic issues, as well as professional athletes.
Lucas earned his Masters of Science degree in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation through the University of Pittsburgh. While in school at the University of Pittsburg, he served as a graduate student researcher and participated as a trial coordinator in a large-scale knee osteoarthritis study.
A lifelong learner, Lucas continues to enhance his skills in spinal manipulation through postgraduate training and has recently received his certification in Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling. This technique is proven to help with a variety of orthopaedic injuries, such as tendonosis, and the management of acute and chronic pain. Lucas recently completed fellowship training with Evidence In Motion, placing him among the ranks of the best Physios in the country.
When he’s not treating patients, Lucas loves playing soccer and volleyball. He also enjoys cooking, going to the beach, and spending time with his family.
Michael earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Prior to earning his Doctorate, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at Illinois State University, where he also played collegiate football.
Michael takes special interest in manual therapy, neuroscience, and therapeutic exercise. He is very excited to be a part of a team dedicated to becoming the best clinicians they can be while providing the best service they can to the community.
Michael lives in Fayetteville with his wife, Katie, and dog, Thor. He is motivated first and foremost by Jesus, his wife, family, and friends. In his spare time, he enjoys resistive training and rock climbing.
Courtney earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Slippery Rock University, just north of Pittsburgh, PA. While in school, she was awarded the Outstanding Research Award for her studies on the effects of Kinesiology Taping on breathing mechanics.
She takes special interest in manual therapy, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and conservative treatment for neck and low back pain. She has completed her certification in Kinesiology Taping and is currently enrolled in Evidence In Motion’s Orthopaedic Residency Program. Courtney also has experience with the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from her mentorship with a McKenzie Certified Therapist.
Courtney and her husband, Kyle, live in Fuquay-Varina with their golden retriever, Willow. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching cycling classes.
Nelson earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Florida International University in Miami, Fl where he also completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While in school, Nelson completed his final DPT internship with Miami Cerebral Palsy. He has completed additional coursework in NDT-I Infant and Toddler, Congenital Muscular Torticollis, Treating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Athletes, Pain Science, Tendinopathy and is currently enrolled in Evidence in Motion’s certification program for Dry Needling. He also takes special interest in manual therapy, neuro-developmental techniques as well as strength conditioning.
Nelson lives in Fayetteville with wife, Laura and two cats, Fayde and Tiger Lily. In his spare time, Nelson enjoys billiards, gaming, recreational sports and interactive activities. He is motivated by wanting the best future for his wife and family, and is excited to work for BreakThrough for the motivation and facilitation provided towards higher learning and continuing education.
