Mark Powell PT, DPT, MTC, OCS

Clinic ManagerDr. Powell is the Clinic Manager at our Boone at Appalachian State University clinic.
Mark earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC. Prior to this, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. While in Physical Therapy school, Mark provided pro-bono physical therapy services to areas in Winston-Salem that were significantly below the poverty level.
As a former collegiate football player, Mark takes special interest in sports performance and rehabilitation as well as manual therapy and dry needling. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, playing video games and watching and playing various sports.
Mark’s favorite quote is, “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” He also believes that physical therapy works best as a partnership with the patient, where both he and the patient can work together and bring their own skills to the table to achieve the patient’s goals. He looks forward to the opportunity to practice at the highest level possible in order to help patients get better, faster.
Katie Bradley PT, DPT
Katie Bradley PT, DPT
Katie Bradley earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Campbell University. Prior to that, Katie obtained her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science also from Campbell University. While in PT school, Katie served as the graduate assistant for the Advanced Interdisciplinary Movement System (AIMS) lab and participated in data collection and manuscript writing for a study involving functional exercise and blood flow restriction.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, baking from scratch, and volunteering in the children’s ministry at her church. Her favorite form of exercise is yoga or hiking. Katie is enjoying adjusting to mountain life and attending App State athletic events. You’ll also find her frequently visiting her alma mater in Buies Creek, NC to serve on the Alumni Board of Directors.
Katie enjoys serving her patients in a way that empowers them to care for themselves outside of the clinic. Watching patients achieve their goals and return to prior activities is rewarding and drives her passion for coming to work every day.
Jacob Deese PT, DPT, LAT, ATC
Jacob Deese PT, DPT, LAT, ATC
Jacob Deese earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Wingate University. Prior to that, Jacob obtained his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University.
Following graduation, Jacob worked as an Athletic Trainer at Wingate University where he was responsible for all practice and event coverage as well as rehabilitation for their Division II Baseball and Football programs.
Prior to joining the BreakThrough team, Jacob has spent time working in the Physical Therapy setting with a variety of athletics ranging from the high school to professional levels. He also has completed advanced training in Trigger Point Dry Needling through the Institute of Athlete Regeneration.
In his free time, Jacob enjoys golf, cheering on the App State Mountaineers, and spending time with his fiancé, Ali, and Golden Doodle, Della.

Physical TherapistDr. Justin Rasavage earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). Prior to that, he completed his undergraduate course work split between Dominican University of Chicago as a student athlete and UNLV earning his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Justin enjoys helping patients return to their optimal function and has a passion for working with sports medicine. He embraces his background in strength and conditioning and physical therapy to help athletes return to sport and continue to pursue their favorite life activities at their peak ability. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, playing guitar, and hiking.

Physical TherapistDr. Justine Tramontana earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from The University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston. At the same time, Justine became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Before this, Justine earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. After completing her doctorate, Justine completed a sports residency program through Evidence In Motion (EIM) and now practices as a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS).
Justine enjoys collaborating with athletes to return to sport and performance through sport and position specific programming. Her passion for treating the athlete as a whole and discerning causes for injuries facilitates both lasting outcomes and meaningful relationships.
When she is not working at clinic or games, Justine pursues opportunities to hike with her dog, Moab, lifting, reading, and traveling.
